STAA Membership

STAA membership is open to anyone with an interest in Transactional Analysis in Scotland.

Membership process currently under review

The STAA Committee is currently reviewing and updating our membership process, with the aim of making it simpler, smoother and more efficient for both members and the organisation.

While this work is underway, new memberships and renewals are temporarily paused. We currently expect the updated membership process to open in January 2027.

If you are an existing STAA member, your current membership will automatically continue until the new process is in place, so there is nothing you need to do at this stage.

We will be in touch with members and those interested in joining STAA in due course with further information about the updated membership arrangements.

Membership benefits

The STAA holds three one-day events each year. Members receive free entry to our Spring and Summer Events and a discounted rate for our Autumn Conference.

STAA also represents and promotes Scottish issues within the wider Transactional Analysis community, including through our relationships with UKATA and UKCP. With Scotland's distinct healthcare and professional landscape, we believe it is important that Scottish perspectives are represented within wider conversations about psychotherapy, counselling and Transactional Analysis.

Ethics and professional membership

STAA aligns with the EATA Code of Ethics, which can be viewed here.

Should you wish to raise any concerns or complaints regarding the conduct of the STAA Committee, please contact us in the first instance at mail@scottishta.org.uk. If this does not resolve your concern, you may contact EATA.

STAA is neither an accrediting nor an examining body and does not have its own professional code of ethics or complaints procedure. Where required by their field of Transactional Analysis and/or country of practice, STAA members are expected to hold appropriate membership with a relevant accrediting or professional body, such as UKATA, EATA, ITAA, UKCP, BACP or COSCA, and to adhere to the relevant ethical and professional standards.
